It all began with a sabbatical in 2012. Pierre-André traveled to Thailand under the auspices of ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) for a humanitarian project (training young teachers in a Karen refugee camp / helping in a shelter for girls protected from human trafficking). During his stay, he heard enthusiastic stories about an orphanage, a dormitory, and a school in Siem Reap, Cambodia. He went there in the spring of 2013 and fell in love with the country and its people. He saw the extent of the needs in a poor country that was paying a heavy price for its painful past. Strong bonds were quickly formed with young people, and ad hoc, individual assistance was put in place to provide access to education and independence through work.
In December of the same year, Pierre-André traveled to Ethiopia, to the Tigray region, to visit an orphanage and school that was supported at the time by ADRA Switzerland. There too, he witnessed extreme poverty, but at the same time he saw the desire to move forward in life among all these young people, who were very resilient and joyful despite everything.
Since this experience and these encounters in Southeast Asia and Africa, Pierre-André has been traveling to these two countries every year to visit the young people he supports and assess their needs.
Seeing the need to better structure his aid efforts, he created a small association in August 2015: FaR.
